Austria Day #2

Hi there peeps! Im back again to update on day #2 of my austria trip.

We took a morning train (7.30am) to salzburg from vienna. it's a 3hr train ride. We were reallyyyy tired. (and this is only the beginning!) Very interesting to go to the train station because it's like a scene from Harry Potter where Harry runs into the wall with his trolley filled with luggages. haha.

We ate our fruits = strawberry and wine grapes on the train. Didnt really like them because they werent v sweet :( but it was my first time trying wine grapes. it tasted not bad but not my kinda fruit.

Things we do when we're bored, tired and with a bunch of camwhore people. HAHA.I actually kinda like this photo. It will serve as good memories!

This is one of the few camwhore pics I took on the entire trip. The girls were mimicking the guys. LOL. It's so funny to see guys take photos of themselves because you normally only see girls doing that. or at least openly. haha

REACHED SALZBURG! By 10 plus am. Long day ahead!

The girls were really efficient. When we asked for directions to our hotel/motel/hostel, we bought the salzburg card too. this card is 48 hr card and it's REALLY awesome! It has a lot of free attractions to go to and free transport. it's so awesome, best thing we bought there i must say. it saved us quite a fair bit of $$$. Initially we planned for other attractions but when we went there we decided to make full use of the free attractions instead.

Once again, sonia secured a place for us here. However, we didnt get a 8 bed room, we got a 10 bed room. and there were 2 strangers living with us. It was hilarious as we got in, we saw a mess on the table and then we saw like "china sauce" and whatnots and we concluded must be china. guess what? Nope they were not, they were caucasians and in fact, THEY probably thought we were from china. hahaha. Oh the irony. When they left for good they left a lot of things behind like sneakers, book, food etc but we didnt take any (LOL) cause we figured it could have been left behind by past users which is even worse so we left the things there when we checked out on the 4th day.

can never get used to seeing horses on the road. lol. but with that comes a lot of horse poop. but the horses only get more interesting as the days go by. Later on our trip I saw, eye shades for the horses, eye cover probably so they can focus better, ear covers, then they have bags to hold their poop etc.

we settle for lunch here, everyone else except sheryl and i had buffet for 6.90 euros which is not bad. a lot of them spam veggie cause we were really sick of meat. the lady of quite disapproving because i think they were only supposed to use one plate per person but we followed the buffet style in singapore and use as many plates as possible to get more food. (makes sense since they were not planning to refill the food outside-.-) Sheryl and i stole some veggie. we got sonia to help us get 2 plates and we ate their vegs. hahaha.

Sheryl and I ordered a stuff pizza which was the first time we were eating so we were v amused. it looks like a big curry puff. haha! it was REALLY NICE!!! (Y) and the bill came up to 3 euros. Good thing is that there is no service charge so we pay the price on the menu. We can give tips if we wanted but hmm, not really. her attitude wasnt fantastic.

After which, we went to the sound of music tour! :D it was the highlight for this salzburg trip and it was only when we were on the bus ready to go that the girls realised the boys had NO IDEA what the sound of music was. ?!?!?!?!?!?!?! this tour cost 30 euros! and they didnt even ask what it was. I guess that's the good thing about girls planning. we choose what we want to do haha. but along the way we educated the guys on the movie and the songs. hahaha, from afar they look like naked ppl sitting on benches.

First venue and already so excited. for those who watched the movie, the building behind was in the movie. but it was only the exterior that was used. the so called "inside" seen in the movie is actually in another building.

quality here is quite bad, you should go fb to see. the view was nice but until now i think my europe trip last year was still better. I guess it's because i compare building to those in rome/vatican city and i compare scenery to those in switzerland. Last year's trip definitely beat them hands down.

OMG, just uploading this pic here makes me crave for apple strudel now! the yellow ice cream is actually vanilla ice cream. it's REALLY YUMMY. best vanilla ice cream that i had in my life!

This was strudel with vanilla sauce. still as good but ice cream works better on sunny days

We went back to Mirabell garden to see the flowers. so prettyyyy

This venue was epic because the boys named their band, "the salzburger boys" LOL! and we made a sound of music video there, hilarious max! people were actually amused i think. there was a couple standing outside of this place looking at us film the music video lol!

The fortress which you will see more of in later post. I had no idea why we didnt think of going up there when it's one of the main highlights of salzburg i would think since everywhere we go, people are pointing out that building. We decided to cancel our vienna shopping plans to fit this on day #4.

Dont get me started on the amount of meat we ate. i think i gained 2kg in one week. LOL. but it was nice, v guilty. it had cheese in it for crying out loud!

@hotstuff would have loved this! ribs! shiok, and im not a fan of ribs.

this food area is known for beer. we call it the beer house. as you can see below how popular it is. the place is huge with many halls to eat and drink. the concept is v interesting. you first take the mug, wash it yourself then go and get your beer and pay.

it was a really tiring night and we went back after that. More plans for the next day in salzburg! stay tune.
