Austria Trip Day #6

Last day of our austria trip and very soon it is back to reality. It's still funny that denmark is my reality now. This trip was really fun while it lasted. It's my first overseas trip w/o my parents. Like actually taking a plane and travel around. it was a really good experience and it made me appreciate my parents' planning for trips a lot more. Planning is so tiring esp when only the girls are doing majority of the work. There are pros and cons about planning. the Plus is definitely that you can plan what you want to do. I am 100% sure that if we left the guys to do the planning they will only plan what to do on the day itself. I dont really like this kinda planning for austria's trip because I want to make the best of my time there and if i just go with the flow then im very sure i wont get to see as much as i would have liked to.

There are however some trips where such random on the spot planning would have fitted better. like on a more relaxing chill holiday to somewhere with no technology LOL. Like, Bali? or phuket? you know.

so on the last day of our trip we made use of the morning as we were only leaving at 3.30pm for our flight at 6pm. We went to the schonbrunn palace! really HUGGGEEE place and nice! But i think we were all very drained from this trip with the waking up early that we were too tired to venture very far around. we bought audio guide tix to the palace and that's about what we saw. (apart from two gardens + a fountain and garden gate) what you see above is the garden gate zoomed in. it's very picturesque when we were there.
the palace. can you imagine how hugggeee it was? and there were like so many parks IN the palace inself. Walking from the main gate to this building took about 5-10 min.

the palace with a snap shot of the garden in front of it.
another garden
settling for some ice cream. I was happy to not give in by temptations because i wanted to eat lunch first and try the ice cream place near our hostel.
very happy with my lunch! could not have left vienna w/o trying their schnitzel! We didnt manage to go to the restaurant that we wanted to which was supposedly famous for beef schnitzel. So had to make do with road side restaurants/stalls. the price was very reasonable and the food was good. For those at home wondering what schnitzel is, it is actually lean meat (supposedly from baby cows) that makes the meat more tender and less fatty. So true. The pork we ate was unlike the ones we use to eat. there is v little fat and the meat is quite thin. but it was really filling (Y)
VERY EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH MY ICE CREAM! It was cheap! and the variety and quality was good! It was the first time i saw "bitter chocolate" = v dark chocolate. and i ordered that with peppermint. this was considered one scoop. we are allowed more than 1 flavours so i tried it with peppermint. But a really good idea because the peppermint masked the taste of the chocolate. nevertheless it was still really good! the bitter chocolate was almost black in colour! super satisfied knowing that ice cream in denmark is really expensive :(

With that, i have finally finished updating my austria trip! *pats on shoulder. Glad that i can start doing later daily updates now. Wanted to walk around on my own today in the afternoon but the weather is gloomy and it's raining a little so i think it's going to be a stay in day. Cant wait for dad to arrive 5 days later!
