Austria Trip Day #5

Came back to vienna the night before and LONGGG day in vienna today! lots to see and do. The group split into two with majority going for the Danube Valley tour. I was in a dilemma too! you see, by day 5 we havent really seen much of vienna and danube valley isnt exactly IN vienna (it's on the outskirts) so it feels REALLYYY lame to go to vienna just to travel to salzburg and come back to vienna just to travel OUT of vienna again. Lame right. So that was my reason for wanting to stay. Plus I could satisfy my shopping needs :D haha.

h/w after giving it some thought, I decided to go danube valley instead. Because there is a possibility that my family may come here again so during which i can travel around here and look around vienna more. The plan for the people going to danube valley is that after the tour, there will still be time to travel back and look at the state opera house, church etc. So that's not completely ignoring vienna's attractions too. The only downside was that it cost 61 euros for the tour. We were in vienna at the wrong time too because the state opera house would not be open in july and august and because we chose to come back on a weekend, some attractions were close too. UNLUCKY I wanted to watch the vienna boys choir but they were on summer vacation >:( lol.

So anw,  this is breakfast for the girls. mini choc doughnuts! mega awesome!! the bread was so delicious. Although it was kept overnight and temporarily lost (because everyone said the doughnuts were not with them), the bread was still soft! chocolate cream was still slightly melted and not hard = 3 happy girls in the morning.
We got picked up from the hostel and sent to the bus stop where the bus will give us a ride to danube valley!
This was taken at the bus stop while waiting. Old buildings never fail to fascinate me
and so we arrived in danube valley! for some weird reason, i didnt think it was breathtaking. yes it was nice. very big area as we cruise along the valley but i was srly not impressed :(
in the cruise. pardon my cuiness

a small fortress up on the top of the mountain. Apparently the politicians/officials were corrupted last time. they made people jump from the building

You can see the palace behind me. There was some failure in uploading the close up pic but no worries there's always fb!
I feel this was slightly a rip off because there was only ONE restaurant and it was quite pricey. but we were REALLY hungry so we just ate there. It was so ironic because the guys ordered a plate of pasta and another plate of sausage and showed among 3 guys while the girls ordered a plate of pasta EACH (sonia's was schnitzel) but the pricing wasnt that bad. around 16 SGD? but as we all were fitting a budget, this was kinda spoiling our nice budget plan.
poor guys eating every last noodle/meat. After awhile i couldnt take it so i just gave them the remaining of my pasta and telling them i was too full already. lol. but the pasta wasnt superbly good either. too dry imo. Ironically, i ordered dessert! I just had to try this chocolate cake thing which appeared more than once so maybe ti's their signature cake. it came with vanilla ice cream (Y) im so in love w their vanilla ice cream because it is not the usual white one we eat in spore. it's YELLOW. and super tasty! I let everyone try too seeing i was the only one who ordered the dessert! but i didnt eat the whip cream.

THIS PLACE WILL DEFINITELY BE THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE TOUR! it's a palace and the rooms inside were just (Y)
view from on top. that's NOT the danube valley that we cruise by. that is JUST a river. Now can you imagine how big the place was where we cruise by?

I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE LIBRARY. It was soooooo unfreakingbelivable! No joke. I have never seen a library like this and it's so freaking amazing!
My camera did not do this library any justice to be honest. you can look at tagged photos of me on fb and my friend's camera was able to capture this beautiful library better. It doesnt look tall but it was realllyyyy talll. each book's height is about 3 hand size tall.

this picture is kinda blur because the lady who took it didnt do a v good job :( but this was a chapel and one of the nicest interior ive seen in all my trips around europe! Probably second best because i remembered one very distinct church from my previous europe trip that has better interior.
The state opera house. I was very happy that we all decided to watch a concert. The concert was playing mozart's pieces and others. Plus there was opera and ballet dancing. It was so chaotic outside the state opera house. This was what happened.

Our danube valley tour ended at the state opera house where they dropped us. We got off and suddenly sonia and i spotted a lot of guys trying to promote the concert so being the usual me in spore who darts away from people promoting stuff unless it's for charity, i did the same. we both did. then later we realised our friends were drawn to one guy who was promoting. we went back and they left so they told us he was selling tix at just 15 euros (SO CHEAP) so i was saying I dont mind. then when we were walking away, this other guy came up to qs, sonia, me and some others to promote ANOTHER concert. but his was 25 euros (I think) he said his was the real concert and although it wont be at state opera house that night, it would be at a popular location too! (he claims more popular than state opera house- srlly???)  then we went away after hearing him out and saying we had to discuss.

we couldnt decide so qs and i went back to the FIRST group of guys to ask about the 15 euros one. this time a 3rd guy came up to us. explain and stuff then we went back to get our friends. when our friends all came back, the very first guy that was promoting to them came up and said "hey you're stealing my customers" and they had a small dispute about who talked to us first. It was confusing because the first guy didnt talk to everyone of us and neither did the 3rd guy. so it's hard to say who talked to who first. THEN, the 2nd guy upon seeing that we were attracted to the 1st/3rd guy, came over and told them not to steal his customers! -.- omg, we were at a loss on what to do. lol! cause the 2nd guy was the FIRST GUY who talked to me. but the 1st guy was the FIRST guy who talked to the rest. now you can see the 3rd guy has no chance already lol.

We were still thinking when suddenly because of anger the 2nd guy shouted" dont you all understand?! ive been explaining to you for the past 15 minutes that THIS MOZART CONCERT (points to the state opera house) will be playing THERE! you all are STUPID. " wahhhhh. funny way of fighting for customers. and just because of that, I didnt even want to consider him then so we all just left to hear out the 1st and 3rd guy. apparently they sorted out their differences and was starting to talk to us tgt. They higher the initial offer of 15, saying that they gave out seats after us and now the prices are higher. ok, where got such thing?! so sheryl and I were saying that's not the way to do it. but sheryl was more forceful because the guy told HER he offered her 15 euros tix. imo, there were no more customers. if you dont sell it to us, you dont have ANY commission. So the guy made a few phone calls and DONE, we got the tix!
I think we got cheated a little because the place was not what he pointed out to be. there were less seats and it wasnt as grand. But that didnt bother me a lot because i was there for the music and opera.
the music was good! opera was not bad. not fantastic but not bad nevertheless. Overall good value for money.
